BNP sought the government's sincere cooperation on Monday in bringing its leader Salahuddin Ahmed back home safely or sending him abroad for better treatment, reports UNB.
"Salahuddin Ahmed was found in India after nearly two months of his disappearance. At this moment, the government's support is crucial to bring him back home safely or send him abroad for better treatment as per his family's demand," said BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon.
Addressing a briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office, he also said Salahuddin was held by Indian police without any passport.
"So, the government's help is very necessary. We think the government will come up with its sincere cooperation to this end."
Asked whether they are getting help from the government regarding Salahuddin, Ripon replied that it cannot be said they are not getting the government's cooperation, as they are yet to apply for his passport.
He also said Salahuddin's wife Hasina Ahmed went to Shillong to meet her husband.
"We'll be able to know his actual condition once she meets him, and then we'll inform it to you."
