BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Thursday their scheduled rally will surely be held at Suhrawardy Udyan here on Sunday as the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner has assured them of giving permission for it, reports UNB.

"We're yet to get any written permission for the rally. But we're sure it'll be held as the administration has assured us of providing all-out cooperation in staging the rally," he said.

Rizvi came up with the remark while speaking at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office.

Replying to a question, he said DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia assured them that they will be given permission for the programme.

The BNP leader said their party and its associate bodies are taking all-out preparations to hold the rally peacefully maintaining discipline. "We're confident that our rally will be peaceful and successful one."

He said they are working for ensuring a huge gathering of their party leaders and activists in the rally as their chairperson Khaleda Zia will address it.

On Friday last, BNP announced to hold the rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday marking what it said the civil-military 'uprising on November 7, 1975'.

Later, the party deferred it to Sunday for various reasons.
