Awami League (AL) presidium member and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader sounded Saturday a note of warning for BNP against anarchy centring January 5, reports BSS.
"If BNP tries to create anarchy by resorting to heinous attacks on life and properties centring January 5, they will be dealt with iron hand," he said this while addressing a rally marking the 67th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Aparajeyo Bangla of Dhaka University (DU).
He said the country's main enemies are communalism and extremism now.
The minister urged the youths to resist communalism and extremism to build Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, a colorful procession was brought out from the Aparajeyo Bangla.
Leaders and activists of different colleges and universities took part in the procession which ended at the organisation's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue parading different city thoroughfares.
Meanwhile, Dhaka City Awami League (AL) general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) asked BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia Saturday to seek apology to the nation for her son Tarique Zia's obnoxious remarks against Bangabandhu.
"Khaleda's son has committed many wrongs. People of the country can pardon him (Tarique) if his mother seeks apology to the nation on behalf of her son. Then they (BNP) can be permitted to organise public rallies and gatherings. Otherwise, people will take tough decision against them," he said.
Maya, also coordinator of Dhaka City unit of AL-led 14 party alliance, said this while speaking as the chairperson at an extended meeting of the alliance at the AL central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city. The meeting was convened to make success the programmes of the Victory Day for Democracy on January 5.
Pointing at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Maya said, "Dwellers of Dhaka will take position in 16 points across the capital city in observance of the day. How will you take to the streets? Your 7-point demand will not work. There is only one-point demand that is correct for yourself. You are the Ameer of (chief) of Jamaat. Other than this you have no existence."
Dhaka City AL joint secretary and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said, "None will be allowed to take to the streets on January 5 as the field will be in our possession. Please, don't try to take to the streets. Don't create any situation of clash. BNP will have to take responsibilities if there is any attempt to create clashes. The law enforcing agencies will take stringent measures if there is any bid of subversive act."
