Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Wednesday said BNP will be destroyed if its leaders and activists do not boycott Tarique Rahman and stop destructive activities, reports BSS.

"BNP will be ruined as the party is carrying out subversive activities in the name of movement across the country," he told a discussion of Awami Swechchhasebak League marking the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day in the city's Institution of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IDEB).

Nanak, also Awami League (AL) Presidium Member, said AL will not demolish BNP, rather the party (BNP) itself will be destroyed because of their destructive activities.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim MP, said although BNP and their followers opposed the Liberation War in 1971, the party leaders and activists are now talking about country's democracy and independence.

BNP and its cohorts killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975, he said.

He also said AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for the development of the country and its people. She wants to implement the dream of Bangabandhu.
