BNP to build BD as per people's hopes: Tarique

'We'll provide family cards, if voted to power'

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said his party would build a Bangladesh, fulfilling the people's aspirations, if voted to power.

BNP would also provide family cards to each family (four members). Each family, living mainly in the rural areas, would get some daily basic foods from the state to (cut their cost of living and) help increase savings, he noted.

Tarique Rahman disclosed the plan while speaking virtually from London, the UK as the chief guest of a rally, organised by Kishoreganj district BNP on Monday.

"Bangladesh is a country having tremendous prospect. We want to build a Bangladesh where the people's aspirations will be fulfilled and their political and economic rights will be ensured. We want to build a country with all, irrespective of party affiliations, for the country's interest. We want to build Bangladesh as per our 31-point roadmap."

The BNP acting chairman warned that the collaborators of the ousted autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina are active to create unrest in the country. He called upon all the like-minded political parties and countrymen to be united, so that these collaborators do not get any chance to destabilise the country.

"We want to cooperate with the interim government. We hope that the government will fulfill the aspirations of the people. We must be united, so that none could create division among us."

He opined that the sacrifices (of the students, children and people during the anti-Hasina movement in July-August) must be upheld and the martyrs' aspirations must be reflected (in all activities).

"I also have no other address in the world, except Bangladesh," he said while quoting his mother Khaleda Zia's comment that she has no other address outside Bangladesh.
