Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said on Sunday the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) would fall in deep crisis if the party does not take part in the next parliamentary elections, reports BSS.

"BNP chief Khaleda Zia is convicted for corruption. It depends on court whether she will participate in the election or not ... But if BNP does not participate in the election they will fall in deep crisis," the minister said as the chief guest while speaking at a rally held at Kalatia in Keraniganj, outskirts of the capital.

The minister said the next national parliament election will be fair, free and acceptable.

"We want an inclusive and participatory election," he said, adding, as per the constitution, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would lead the interim government during the election time.

Terming the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a welfare government, the minister said a lot of development works have been done during the tenure of the government and development in communication sector is surprising.

The government has created ample opportunities in education sector, including use of internet and multimedia class room, for the students, Quamrul highlighted.
