BNP Thursday voiced concern over what it said the government's inaction in ensuring the security of Bangladeshis living in troubled Iraq, reports UNB.
In a statement, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: "We express deep concern over the insecurity of foreign citizens, including Bangladeshis, living in Iraq amid the ongoing violence and bloodsheds there over conflict between the followers of Shia and Sunni Muslims."
"We're also deeply concerned that though the governments of the other countries have taken prompt measures in ensuring the security of their respective citizens, Bangladesh government is totally indifferent about ensuring the security of its citizens and safely, and bringing them back home," he added.
Mirza Fakhrul demanded that the government take proper measures in ensuring security of Bangladeshis living in Iraq and bringing them back home.
Mentioning that Bangladesh is now under the rule of an illegal regime, the BNP spokesman said the government which snatched the democratic rights of the opposition by brutally repressing and suppressing them can never think of people's welfare.
