A three-day programme of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), marking its 36th founding anniversary, begins today (Sunday), reports UNB.
This is for the first time in the last 23 years BNP is celebrating its founding anniversary when the party is neither in power nor in parliament.
The BNP-led opposition alliance boycotted the 9th parliamentary election under Sheikh Hasina government as they had been demanding the election under a non-party administration.
BNP on Wednesday chalked out the three-day programme to celebrate the party's 36th founding anniversary.
The programmes include discussion, hoisting party flag, placing wreaths at the grave of party founder and taking out a colourful procession.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programmes at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
As part of the programmes, a discussion will be held today. A documentary on the party's activities and achievements will also be screened on the day.
