Awami League-led 14-party alliance termed political stunt BNP's long march-cum-car march towards the Teesta, reports BSS.
The remark came from the spokesman of 14-party alliance and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim at a press conference following a meeting of the combine at the political office of Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city Tuesday..
Mohammad Nasim, also a member of Awami League presidium, said, "In the name of long march, BNP has initiated a car-march. Their long march is not meant for resolving the problem. It's nothing but a political stunt."
The senior AL leader said, "BNP's rank and file got frustrated for not taking part in the January 5 parliament polls. So, the programme has been thrown to energise their workers. The water crisis is for all and it can't be an issue. We also want solution to the crisis but it's not a political matter."
Nasim said, "It's a conspiracy of BNP. Polls are being held now in India. We hope that the Teesta issue could be resolved in talks shortly after a new government assumes office there. We have the legitimate right to get proportionate share of Teesta waters. The matter should be resolved through bilateral talks."
