BHOLA, July 20 (UNB): Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Sunday no movement of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would see any success as her this weapon has turned blunt.
"There should be a weapon (issue) for a movement. But, she (Khaleda) has failed to bring any success in her movement as she wrongly applied all the weapons. So, my personal observation is that Khaleda Zia's weapon of movement has turned blunt," the Minister made the comment while talking to reporters during distribution of relief materials among flood-affected people in Sadar Upazila here.
Ruling out the possibility of a dialogue between the government and BNP over holding fresh national election, Tofail said: "This (present) government has been elected for five years. There'll be an election 90 days before January 29, 2019. And a dialogue or discussion would be held only then over holding the national election."
Shrugging off BNP's movement threat, the AL leader said it was not possible for BNP to topple the government through any movement.
Replying to a question, Mr Tofail said the prices of essentials were now within the purchasing capacity of common people. "The prices are coming down gradually and that will remain within the commoner's reach."
