BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the party's election manifesto will bring a ‘new sunrise’ for Bangladesh, an event the nation is eagerly awaiting, report agencies.
"After much sacrifice and bloodshed, the country is finally moving towards a neutral, free, fair, and acceptable election," he said
The BNP leader made the remarks while delivering the welcome speech at the BNP's election manifesto unveiling programme at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Friday.
During his speech, Mirza Fakhrul paid deep respect to the late former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, describing her as the 'Mother of Democracy'.
He emphasized that she struggled her entire life to establish democracy and that the nation would forever remember her contributions to the democratic movement.
He also showed honour to the party's founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, mentioning him as the proclaimer of independence who built a truly liberal and democratic political party while uniting all democratic forces.
Regarding the party's future, Mirza Fakhrul announced that the BNP is entering a 'new chapter'.
He introduced Tarique Rahman as a young, creative, and visionary leader who would present the party's manifesto to the nation.
"Tarique Rahman is bringing a new message amidst the current complex geopolitical and political realities," he stated, adding that the nation looks forward to a new sunrise under his leadership.
Concluding his speech, Mirza Fakhrul urged the people of the country to come forward and write a new history for Bangladesh under the guidance of this new leadership.
