CHITTAGONG, Aug 26 (UNB): Panic spread among lawyers in the port city as a bomb-like object was found in the building of the District Bar Association Sunday morning.
The police said Sabuj, a cleaner of the Bar Association, found the object in a dry bucket in the toilet of the old building of the association at about 10.30 am and informed its General Secretary Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury.
Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members rushed in at about 10.50 am and restricted public movement in and around the building.
Later, expert teams of DB police and RAB recovered the object, wrapped up with tape, and opened it carefully. They found iron sheets and four pencil batteries inside.
Nobody, except lawyers and court officials, were allowed to enter into the rooms of the judges.
The security teams searched the whole building and gave clearance for normal activities of the court at about 11.30 am.
