FE REPORT

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal called upon all on Saturday to boycott the Awami League (AL) government for the sake of boycotting Indian and Israeli products.

"If we boycott the present Awami League government then it will be possible to boycott Indian and Israeli products," he said at a rally in front of the National Press Club protesting against the killings of Palestinians in Gaza by Israeli force.

Mr Alal, who is also a former president of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, questioned if a country like Gambia filed a case (plaintiff) in an international court against the killings of Rohinghyas by Myanmar on behalf of Bangladesh then why not Bangladesh could be a plaintiff in a case filed against Israel in an international court on behalf of Palestinians?

He alleged that the government was flattering India just to remain in power flouting all forms of world humanity.

"So we think that this government is the product of India and Israel. If we boycott this government, boycotting of Indian and Israeli products will be possible," he said.

He said that India as a big country has remained out from the minds of the country's people.

Meanwhile, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal brought out a sudden procession in front of the BNP's headquarters at Nayapaltan in the capital.

The procession led by Manjurul Hasan Ifat, an aspirant for the president post of Chhatra Dal Dhaka city west unit, was brought out at 4:30 pm.

The procession started from in front of Nayapaltan party office and terminated at the same place after passing through adjoining areas.

They chanted slogans for immediate release of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
