Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh gave the government 20 days Thursday to bring Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique to justice for his anti-Islamic remarks, reports UNB.
"Latif Siddique should be hung incorporating a legal provision of death sentence (in the relevant law) for atheists and non-believers for disparaging Islam. Or else, Muslims will be forced to take to the streets," said Hefajat's Dhaka city unit convener Maulana Noor Hossain Kashemi.
Maulana Kashemi was addressing a demonstration organised at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in protest against Latif Siddique's remarks.
He said they will not return home until Latif Siddique is tried after enacting a new law.
Minister Latif Siddique came under fire across the country for his offensive remarks against Hajj and Tablig Jamaat made on September 28 in New York at a reception hosted by expatriates from Tangail in his honour.
