COMILLA, Sep 2 (UNB): Officials of British High Commission and the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka visited voter-registration centres in Comilla pourasava today (Sunday), as the national task for preparing a new voter list in preparation for elections has been underway.
Political officer of the British mission Isobel Shirlaw, First Secretary for Political Affairs of the Netherlands Embassy Angele Samura and Good Governance Adviser Tania Zaman first met officials of the district Election Commission office.
Later, they visited a number of voter-registration centres and exchanged views with the officials concerned on how the work is progressing.
The officials of the European missions also met with the local NGO officials engaged in voter list and national ID card activities and witnesses their voter-motivation campaigns.
Strict monitoring by all concerned, including government and EC officials and diplomats, is going on over the countrywide voter-listing programme as a hail of controversies over the old list was one of the issues that stalled last January's general election.
