BSF push-in attempt through C'nawabganj, Kushtia borders foiled

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 24 (UNB): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday foiled an alleged attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push seven individuals into Bangladesh through the Charaldanga border in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), said members of the 12 BSF Battalion's Tilashan Camp allegedly tried to push the seven men into Bangladesh around 6:30am through the border near pillar 219/24-R/2.

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team detected the infiltration attempt and prevented the men from entering the country, the official said.

They are currently staying on the Indian side of the zero line along the border, Masum said, adding that the paramilitary force is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further push-in attempts.

Meanwhile, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an alleged attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push eight people into Bangladesh through the Kushtia border.

Personnel from the Border Security Force's (BSF) Char Meghna camp under its 146 Battalion allegedly tried to force the group across the border near pillar 152/1-S, close to the Joypur Border Outpost (BOP), around 5:10am on Friday, said Lt Col Rashed Kamal Rony, commanding officer of BGB Kushtia Battalion-47.
