CA greets new UK premier Brown

Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed congratulated Gordon Brown on his assumption of the Office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland through a unanimous election Wednesday, reports UNB.
In a message of felicitation, the CA stated, "Your unanimous selection as the leader of the Labour Party and to the highest office of her majesty's government is a testimony to the trust of the people of the UK and Northern Ireland in your able leadership."
He also expressed his confidence that Bangladesh would find a close friend in the new British leader.
The head of the caretaker government termed bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK excellent, saying that it has been expanded over the years in many areas, including trade, investment and culture.
Fakhruddin Ahmed further expressed the hope that the existing friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened during his tenure as British premier.
"I look forward to closely working with you on issues of our mutual interest," said the CA.
The CA wished him continued success and good health, and peace and prosperity for the people of his country.
