Speakers at a roundtable in the city Saturday called for holding free, fair and neutral polls to ensure welfare of the people and protect the interest of the country, reports BSS.
Participating in a roundtable, organised by Bangladesh Policy Forum (BCF), in the auditorium of the CIRDAP, the speakers urged the politicians to play a responsible role in this regard.
Presided over by Chairman of Amardesh and Coordinator of the National Interest Group Mahmudur Rahman, the function was addressed by former Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdur Rouf as the chief guest.
Former Director General of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Major General (retd) Fazlur Rahman, columnist Sadek Khan and former lawmaker Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman also spoke.
In his speech, Justice Rouf said it was possible to hold a free and fair general election within the announced timeframe.
