Senior Awami League leader and Railway Minister (RM) Suranjit Sengupta Friday said parliament is the right forum to discuss and solve the caretaker government issue because such an issue should be solved constitutionally, reports BSS.
"Parliament is the only forum to discuss and solve this issue. The constitution has given a clear instruction to solve such an issue through discussion in parliament," he said, adding that the opposition must come to parliament to raise the issue for discussion.
He was speaking at the publication ceremony of a book titled 'Fifteenth Amendment and Deliberation' here.
Dr Shadheen Malik, Dr Asif Nazrul and journalist Mizanur Rahman Khan addressed the function, among others. Written by senior reporter of ABC Radio Amin Al Rashid, Oitijya has published the book.
Mr Sengupta said the fifteenth amendment to the constitution has stopped unconstitutional capture of power forever.
Referring to the criticism about the fifteenth amendment, he said critics were silent when military rulers captured the state power and amended the constitution as per their whims.
When the amendment was under process, the main opposition BNP was invited to discuss it, the RM said, adding that but there was no criticism about BNP for not joining the process.
