RAJSHAHI, Aug 20 (BSS): A case has been lodged against 1,200 leaders and workers of Awami League (AL), including former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, for their alleged involvement in killing of Shibir leader Raihan Ali during the movement of anti-discrimination students.
Rana Islam, local unit coordinator of Anti-discrimination student movement, lodged the case with Boalia Model thana in the city on Monday night mentioning names of 50 AL leaders and workers.
In his petition, Rana Islam mentioned that the AL leaders and workers led by AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and city unit general secretary Dablu Sarker suddenly opened fire and blasted bombs on a large rally of the students-people in the Alupatty area around 1.30 pm on August 5.
Scores of students, including Raihan Ali, Maruf Mourtoza, Ibrahim Ali, Maruf Al Hassan and Mehedi Hassan, sustained bullet-wounds in the attack. They were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where Raihan Ali died on August 8.
