CBA leader jailed for 7 yrs in graft case in Sylhet

SYLHET, July 7 (UNB): Jalalabad Gas Field collective bargaining agent (CBA) leader Masuk Uddin was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) while his wife and close aide three years each Thursday for misappropriating government property.
First class Magistrate Abdul Hye Al Mahmud also fined Masuk Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer five more months in jail.
Two other convicts are his wife Hasna Begum and his close aide Amal Sutradhar
CBA Secretary Masuk and his family members went into hiding soon after the caretaker government assumed power. Masuk later surrendered to the joint forces on February 25.
Later, the army-led joint forces searched his residence in the city on February 26 and seized pipes and other valuables of Jalalabad Gas Field worth about Tk 5.0 million.
