CCC declares Tk 19.81b budget for FY 25

No new tax imposed

CHATTOGRAM, June 27: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced Tk 19.81 billion (1,981 crore) annual budget for CCC for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-25 in the port-city on Thursday.

He announced the third budget as the CCC mayor, providing detailed data on the city's past, present and future action plans. Of the total budget, Tk 10.26 billion will come from CCC's own income, including holding tax, lease of bazaars, rent of markets, etc. He also declared Tk 16.61 billion revised budget for FY 2023-24.

The mayor in his speech said, "No new tax has been imposed in the budget. I took charge as the CCC mayor with its loan amounting to over Tk 10.75 billion. After three years of continuous debt repayment, the amount of CCC's debt is now Tk 4.40 billion."

"CCC has been maintaining a number of educational institutions, including one university, one midwifery institute, eight colleges, four computer colleges, one homeopathic medical college, 43 high schools, six kindergarten schools, two primary schools, four night schools, six Sanskrit schools, and 410 forkania madrasas."

CCC's development projects include modern city building construction, kitchen market construction at Bibir Hat, procurement of modern vehicles for development of garbage management, construction of bridge, roads, etc, he added.

CCC Chief Executive Officer (Acting) Mohammed Ashraful Amin presided over the budget session in presence of the CCC ward councilors, officials and journalists. The budget proceedings were addressed by CCC Ward Councilor and President of Finance Standing Committee Mohammed Ismail.

The budget of CCC for FY 2023-24 was Tk 18.87 billion, and for FY 2022-23 was Tk 21.61 billion.
