FE REPORT | December 10, 2025 00:00:00

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has requested the cooperation of Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed to ensure that judicial officers fulfill their duties on the Electoral Inquiry Committee (EIC) before the 13th national parliamentary election.

In response, the Chief Justice assured that appropriate measures would be taken.

CEC shared this information with reporters after a meeting with the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon.

He said, "We have asked him (the Chief Justice) to expedite the deployment of judicial officers for the Electoral Inquiry Committee once our schedule is announced. The Chief Justice assured us that he will take the necessary steps to deploy the required judicial officers for the Electoral Inquiry Committee."

The Election Commission is preparing to hold the 13th national election and the referendum on the same day in the first half of February. The commission has indicated that it may announce the schedule on December 10 or 11.

Previously, the EC had requested Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar to be prepared to record the CEC's address to the nation tomorrow regarding the election and referendum schedule.

Before announcing the schedule for the national parliamentary election and the referendum, the CEC and the four election commissioners had a meeting with the Chief Justice on Tuesday. As he was leaving the premises after the meeting, journalists present there asked him questions.
