Asking the polling officials to work sincerely and neutrally, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad said on Monday no one will be spared if found guilty of playing a biased role and being callous in performing his or her duty, reports UNB.
"You'll have to work with neutrality…the Election Commission (EC) won't tolerate any sort of callousness and partiality…stern actions will be taken for the breach of neutrality," he said on the eve of elections to three city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong. The CEC was addressing a press conference at the media centre of the Election Commission Secretariat in the evening.
He also claimed that the election campaign in the three city corporations completed almost smoothly barring some stray incidents.
Responding to a query about BNP's claim that a level-playing field was missing, Rakibuddin Ahmad said everybody carried out his or her election campaign in a congenial and friendly atmosphere except one or two separate incidents.
