CHITTAGONG, Sept 3 (UNB/BSS): A court here fixed on Wednesday November 10 for next hearing of charge framing arguments against BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in two vehicle torching cases.

On August 3, acting Sessions Judge M Jaglul Hossain deferred until September 3 the hearing on the charge framing against the detained BNP leader who was sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 for crimes committed against humanity during the War of Liberation in 1971.

Court sources said two vehicles were vandalised and then those were set on fire in separate incidents in Bashbaria and Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila on November 7, 2010.

Police arrested three people from Bashbaria and another one from Salimpur on that day.

Golam Faruk Bhuiyan, sub-inspector of Sitakunda thana, filed two separate cases.

Earlier, Chowdhury was produced before the Court of Chittagong District and

Session Judge AKM Nasiruddin Mahmud around 10.45am.

Abul Hasem, Public Prosecutor of Chittagong district told the court that they need more time for further investigation in the cases as names of many, who were involved in the incidents, had not been included in the charge sheets.

Abdus Sattar, a counsel for Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, prayed to the court for discharging his client from the cases.

Convicted war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was taken to Chittagong from Kashimpur jail in Gazipur district last night for producing him before the court.
