Charge framing in an arms case against former state minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar will take place on July 25 (Wednesday), as hearings on this case concluded Sunday in his presence in the trial court, reports UNB.
Lawyers of the detained former state minister, standing in the dock, appealed to court for immediately discharging the case while additional public prosecutor Kabir Hossain on government side made a strong plea for indictment of the accused.
After hearing both sides, the court fixed July 25 for giving order as to whether or not to charge the ex-police minister with possessing arms illegally.
Meanwhile, judge of the tribunal on suppression of the offences disrupting public security Khandakar Kamaluzzaman set July 30 as the hearing date on a public safety-breaking case against another former state minister of the immediate-past government, Amanullah Aman, and ex-MPs Joynal Abedin, Alamgir Hossain and Nazimuddin.
