CHITTAGONG, Jun 16: Head of China Communist Party delegation Guo Yezhou said on Tuesday Bangladesh is a tested friend of China and the Chinese businesses are eager to invest in the country.
"Bangladesh is important to China. Both the countries have close ties and the relation dates back to 2000 years ago. We are looking forward to further strengthening our bilateral relation in the days to come," he said.
He was speaking at a reception accorded to him by treasurer of Awami League Chittagong city committee and chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Abdus Salam at the Well Park Residence hotel in the city.
Other members of the delegation are An Yuejun, deputy director general, Yang Chen, deputy director, Zhou Rong Shui, second secretary, Chen Bin, second secretary and Li Yuanxing, assistant secretary of International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Mr. Guo, Vice Minister, International Development of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said both the countries were enjoying a very good relation as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited China and met with the Chinese Premier last year.
President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam said Chittagong is the gateway and regional hub of Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina already allotted 900 acres of land for China's special economic zone at Anwara and another 500 acres of land would be allotted for China at Mirsarai in Chittagong, he said.
