The International Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Commission demanded on Monday the government complete the investigation into Kalpana Chakma abduction case in a free and fair manner, reports UNB.
The right body came up with the demand at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city on the eve of the 19th anniversary of her disappearance.
On June 12, 1996, Kalpana Chakma, the then central organisational secretary of Hill Women's Federation (HWF), was abducted from her house at New Lalyaghona, Baghaichhari in Rangamati district.
As several investigations failed to identify the abductors, the Rangamati Chief Judicial Magistrate Court ordered Rangamati Superintendent of Police on January 16, 2013 to submit a report after investigation. Although more than two years have elapsed, the investigation officer is yet to submit any report.
Reading out a written statement, CHT Commission co-chairperson and right activist Sultana Kamal said as the plaintiff of the case submitted 'no-confidence petition' on the probe report.
