A Dhaka court here sent Wednesday City Awami League (AL) leader Zahidul Islam Tipu, an accused in the case of Jubo League leader Riaz Uddin Khan Milky killing, to jail rejecting his bail petition, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Anwar Sadat passed the order after Zahidul Islam Tipu, general secretary of Matijheel thana unit of AL, surrendered before the court.
Tipu's lawyer Gazi Zillur Rahman told reporters that his client got bail from the High Court (HC) in the case on July 7.
Besides, he said, the investigation officer (IO) of the case earlier prayed to the court to relieve 10 accused, including Tipu, from the case in the absence of any witness and documents about their involvement in the killing of Milky.
Milky, organising secretary of Dhaka City (South) unit of Jubo League, was gunned down by his close associate Tarek, who was also joint secretary of the unit, and Aminul Islam Habib in front of Shoppers World at Gulshan in the city in the wee hours of July 30 last year.
Major Rashedul Haque Khan Milky, elder brother of the victim, filed a case on the same day (July 30, 2013) against 11 identified and some unidentified people.
On August 3 last year, RAB members arrested Lopa, wife of Milky's driver and close associate Maruf Reza Sagar, who confessed before a Dhaka court the following day about her involvement in the killing plot.
Hours after the killing of Milky, RAB arrested prime accused Tarek from a hospital at Uttara in the city.
Tarek and another suspected terrorist Shah Alam were killed in a 'shootout' with RAB members on August 1, 2013.
