Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad has said the schedules of the Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation polls will be announced within this month, reports bdnews24.com.
He gave this indication after a meeting with law enforcers and education ministry officials on Thursday.
"We will have to declare the schedule within this month. We will discuss all ends and decide at the commission's meeting the appropriate time for the polls."
The CEC also said they are planning to hold the polls by creating a gap in the higher secondary exams scheduled to run from April 1 to June 11.
The education ministry will adjust the schedule and accommodate the 5-day gap needed by the commission to hold the polls, he added.
The commissioner also said they will decide on whether to hold all the city polls together or split them.
The senior secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs, principal staff officer, inspector general of police, director generals of RAB, Coast Guard, Ansar and VDP, related police and election officials, and top brass of the intelligence agencies took part in the meeting.
