Classes resume today (Sunday) at Dhaka, Rajshahi and Jagannath Universities amid strict security measures after a 66-day unscheduled closure including Eid and Durga Puja vacations. Academic activities of Jahangirnagar University resumed Saturday.
University sources said most of the students of DU, RU and JU have already come to their respective campuses in expectation of taking classes and carrying out their other academic activities through a peaceful environment.
The DU authorities have already taken all administrative and academic preparations to hold classes in a congenial educational atmosphere on the campus.
DU proctor office sources said additional law enforcing agencies would be patrolling in and around the campus to ward off any untoward incident that may hamper the fair environment for education at the university.
When contacted, DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz said that he hopes all students and teachers will attend their academic activities alongside making contributions to maintain the law and order situation and a supportive atmosphere of education at the university.
On the other hand, a meeting of the DU Syndicate was held Saturday to review the overall situation of the campus. The syndicate also made an appeal to the government to consider releasing the four jailed teachers of the university on a priority basis.
