Collective efforts for welfare of autistic, disabled persons stressed

RAJSHAHI, Apr 2 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion here Saturday underscored the need for collective efforts for the welfare of the people with autism and disability. They laid stress on inclusion of the mentally challenged people and children in the mainstream of development aimed at ensuring normal life for them. District Administration and Department of Social Service jointly organized the discussion in Shishu Academy hall room in observance of the 4th International Autism Awareness and 13th National Disabled Day. Various non-government development organizations including Action on Disability and Development (ADD) extended support to the programme. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Dilwar Bakth and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and Development) Subal Bosh Moni spoke at the discussion as the chief and special guests respectively while Deputy Director of Social Service Department Hamida Begum presided. Programme Associate of ADD International, Mustaque Ahmed delivered the address of welcome while. Wahida Khanom, Director of Foundation for Women and Child Assistance, presented the keynote paper. Earlier, the participants brought out a procession from the C&B Crossing and converged on the discussion venue after parading different streets.
