Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Benazir Ahmed Sunday said action will be taken against those who will create anarchy as well as obstacle to normal civic life in the name of hartal, reports UNB. The commissioner made the remarks ahead of countrywide dawn to dusk hartal called by Islamic Law Implementation Committee today (Tuesday) to protest against the government decision of giving equal rights to women in the National Women Policy. Briefing reporters at the DMP headquarters, Benazir termed the hartal call as sad saying that the Prime Minister has already assured that no anti-Islamic law will be enacted. He said the Chief Justice has also assured that he will not deliver any judgment which goes against Quran and Sunnah. The Commissioner said Alems are very respectable in society. If they commit destructive acts in the name of hartal, action will be taken under criminal procedure, he said. He requested the hartal callers to withdraw their programme for stability and development of the country. "Damaging vehicles and hampering normal life in the name of hartal, will not be tolerated," the commissioner warned.
