RANGPUR, Oct 19 (BSS): Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Hasanul Haq Inu today said attacks on minority communities might repeat unless BNP removes its political umbrella from terrorists, militants, Jamaat and razakars.

"So far the political umbrella of BNP remains on the heads of terrorists, militants, Jamaat and razakars, militancy will continue and the fear of militant attacks will also remain in the country," he said.

Inu, also a former Information Minister and President of JSD, was talking to reporters after visiting houses of the victims' of Hindu families in arson attacks and addressing a rally on the Baro Karimpur Durga Mandir premises in Majhipara village of Pirganj upazila.

President of Pirganj upazila JSD Meer Mohammad Ali Manik, General Secretary Abdus Sattar and Ramnathpur union parishad Chairman Sadekul Islam also spoke at the rally.

Inu said those who conducted the arson attacks are terrorists belong to a hardcore fundamentalist clique, enemies of the country and society.

"Most of the attackers have been identified. They must be arrested at the earliest and their speedy trial should be completed within three months to ensure exemplary punishments," he said.

He said visible punishments of the terrorists will make it clear that the attackers do not go unpunished and thus similar attacks will not repeat.

Inu said it is the responsibility of the state to build and rebuild houses and temples and provide cash money to the affected Hindu families to assist them in recouping the losses they incurred in terms of properties during the arson attacks.

"There is no alternative to this principle. Not only in Pirganj, the state should follow the same principle to build and rebuild the temples at all 50 places across the country and rehabilitate the affected families," Inu said.

"There will be no compromise on security of the Hindu community and minorities, the protection of the secular character of the state and maintaining secularism. The security of the Hindu community must be ensured at any cost," he said.
