Conflict creators over PR don’t believe in BD’s core ideology: Moyeen

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has said if someone wants to create conflict over proportional representation(PR), they do not actually believe in the core ideology of Bangladesh, reports BSS.
Moyeen Khan came up with the remarks while speaking at a general meeting of the Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the capital on Monday.
He said many of those who talk big today forget that the student community has sacrificed the most in the democratic movement of this country, 80-90 per cent of which was represented by the BNP.
But they never said it verbally, but rather introduced themselves as representatives of the common people.
"Bangladesh is not the property of anyone alone. A year ago, the Awami League suffered the consequences of thinking that way. If anyone still has the same misconception, it would be a serious mistake," he said.
Moyeen said those who talk about democracy should know that more than one lakh cases have been filed against BNP leaders and activists, this has not happened against any other political party.
Over five million BNP leaders and activists were accused and the police members were deployed behind them.
BNP Chairperson's Advisor Zainul Abdin Farroque said that political parties that want elections under the PR system are basically engaged in an attempt to trap Nobel laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
He further alleged that a group is conspiring over the meeting of the chief adviser with BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in London.
