Conspiracy on to foil victory of mass uprising: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Monday that a handful of persons and a vested quarter were hatching conspiracy to foil the victory of the student-mass uprising to topple the Sheikh Hasina-led autocratic regime.
"These persons (a handful) and a vested quarter are trying to shift blame on BNP leaders and activists by creating trouble by themselves," he told the media after paying homage to party founder Shaheed president Ziaur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital marking the 44th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal.
"We want to say it very clearly that our party leaders and activists are never involved in such acts (creating trouble and unrest) rather we (BNP) are alert and trying to prevent that trouble," he said.
"We want to build a new democratic Bangladesh where equality, rights and justice will be ensured for all," he maintained.
"We take an oath that we will consolidate our victory that we have achieved through students and people's movement against the autocratic regime of Sheikh Hasina," he said.
Joint Secretary General of BNP Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, party's voluntary affairs secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sopu, member secretary of Dhaka north unit BNP Aminul Islam, convener of Dhaka south unit BNP Habibur Rashid Habib, president of Swechchhasebak Dal SM Jilani and Secretary General Rajib Ahsan were present, among others.
