'Conspirators' behind bomb blast: Sahara

November 20, 2010 00:00:00

Home Minister Sahara Khatun has said those who are trying to destabilise the country were behind the bomb attack at chief justice's residence, reports bdnews24.com.
Some unidentified criminals hurled two Molotov cocktails at Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque's residence at around 9pm Thursday. No casualties were, however, reported.
Sahara and State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam reached Mr Haque's house soon after the blast in the city's Kakrail area to inquire the incident.
The Home minister said the government would exert full efforts in finding out the culprits. "They will not be spared."
Asked if the incident might be connected with BNP Chief Khaleda Zia's eviction from her cantonment house, the minister said, "In case such connection is found, the responsible parties will be held accountable."
Ramna police Sub-inspector Zafar Ali filed a case with the station early Friday. They, however, could not arrest anyone until 10am Friday.
Another sub-inspector Motaleb Mia told the news agency that four to five unidentified persons were accused in the case.
Meanwhile, Awami League (AL) MP Suranjit Sengupta said the bomb attack at the chief justice's residence might have been out of vengeance from certain quarters with vested interest.
He was briefing journalists at his residence in the capital's Jigatala area Friday.
Mr Sengupta said, "The HC has delivered several verdicts in public interest. That may be a motive behind the attack."
The ruling party's advisory council member also demanded tighter security at the chief justice's house.
