Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has called upon all to continue the ongoing one-point movement for unseating the government through mass upsurge.
JCD, an associate body of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), made the appeal in a statement, signed by its president Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, issued on Thursday night.
JCD also expressed solidarity with the protest against the killings of students and people during the students' quota reform movement. It called upon the country's people and international community to be vocal for ensuring safety of lives of students and others concerned.
The statement alleged that following the government's directives members of police, Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh and Chhatra League engaged themselves in killing people and students during the quota reform movement.
It further said the incidents that occurred recently did not happen even during the British, Pakistan and Ershad regimes.
The statement mentioned that students and people were being shot at sight, and these incidents were censored by snapping internet connectivity just to erase proofs of the killings.
The JCD leaders in the statement hoped that the ongoing mass movement against the government would be successful, and those who were responsible for the killings would be brought to justice one day.
