KUSHTIA, June 12 (BSS): Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said on Friday his party knows how to keep friendly relations with the outside world.

"Keeping the country's interest above all else, AL maintains better relations with friendly countries and this has been continuing. There is no reason left for BNP to suspect that the relations between AL and any other foreign party have deteriorated," he said.

Hanif said this in reply to a question as to whether there is deterioration in relations between Awami League and Indian National Congress.

District AL president Sadar Uddin Khan, general secretary Asgar Ali, senior vice-president Rabiul Islam, vice-president Gias Uddin Ahmed Mintu and Awami Juba League leader Habibur Rahman Habi were present, among others.

In reply to recent remarks of BNP leader Hannan Shah, the AL joint general secretary said, "It has already been proved to the outside world how much progress has been made in development activities in Bangladesh under the capable and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

The AL leader said, "BNP has now become politically bankrupt. A sense of frustration has now been prevailing among the leaders and activists of the party due to failure of their chairperson. They have been coming up with such remarks out of sheer frustration."
