Country\\\'s religious fundamentalist bodies belong to Al-Qaeda: Hanif

KUSHTIA, Sept 05 (BSS): Joint General Secretary of the ruling Awami League (AL) Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said here today the government's activities have been continuing against the militant outfits in the country.

"The activities of the militant outfits have been continuing in the country before assumption of office by our government. We think that Al-Qaeda may try to spread its network through the religious fundamentalist bodies, particularly through the war criminals. We will resist their evil activities at any cost. We are alert," he said while speaking at a function on the threat of Al-Qaeda in Bangladesh.

The AL leader said this while exchanging views with the leaders and workers of his party at his PTI residence in Kushtia town.

Turning to the alleged conspiracy of the United States (US) to overthrow the Sheikh Hasina government from power, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, "Many incidents took place, including adverse reaction in the United Nations, during our independence struggle to thwart our war of liberation.
