A Dhaka court on Thursday allowed a petition, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), seeking appointment of administrators (receivers) to look after the immovable properties of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family members.

The ACC also fixed a new date for quizzing the former IGP. It asked Benazir to appear before the anti-graft body on June 23 to face interrogation over graft allegations and amassing huge properties beyond known sources of income.

In a press briefing on Thursday, ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen told the reporters that ACC announced the new date, as he did not appear on June 6.

The local upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) will look after the properties in Savar upazila, Dhaka and in Shibchar upazila, Madaripur, while the deputy commissioner (DC) of Cox's Bazar will look after the properties in the district.

Besides, the officials of Fisheries Department and Agricultural Extension Department of Gopalganj and Madaripur districts will take charges of the land and water-bodies in the districts.

The ACC director (estate management department) will take charge of four flats at Gulshan in Dhaka.

Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain, Judge of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka, passed the order after hearing a petition, placed by ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam.
