Court freezes ex-joint secy Kibria's 5 bank accounts

A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the freezing of five bank accounts belonging to former joint secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat AKMG Kibria Mazumder, containing a total of Tk 3.8 million, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The anti-graft body in its plea said Kibria, who was also a personal secretary to former Railways Minister Muzibul Haque, has amassed illegal wealth of hundreds of crores, and it is probing allegations against him. "Though AKMG Kibria Mazumder is in jail right now, his family members or any other person on his behalf may withdraw money from his accounts and launder the sum abroad. So these accounts should be frozen immediately," the plea added.
