Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtrantik Dal (BSD) will stage demonstrations in the city on Wednesday protesting what they said snatching of peoples' right to vote and holding a farcical city corporation election, reports UNB.
The left-leaning parties will jointly hold the demonstration in front of National Press Club at 4:00 pm.
In a joint statement on Sunday, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and BSD general secretary Khalequzzaman said the country's people had scarified their lives to ensure their voting right when they took part in the 71 Liberation War to establish their rights.
They said the government made the city polls a matter of fun and undermined the right to vote which people established through a long struggle.
The communist leaders stressed the need for launching a vigorous movement to restore democracy and establish people's right to vote in the country.
