Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) will stage demonstrations across the country on March 2 in protest against the government's move to raise power tariff, reports UNB.

In a joint statement, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim, its general secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed and BSD secretary general Khalequzzaman announced the action programme and urged all to make it a success.

Expressing their concern over the government's move to hike the power tariff, the leaders of the left-leaning parties urged the government to refrain from taking such "anti-people move".

The said the government has increased the power tariff on 6 occasions in the last five years ignoring public opinions. "The government has failed to ensure uninterrupted power supply although it claimed to have increased power supply," they said.
