The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) expressed satisfaction over the passage of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) Bill in the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) on Thursday, reports BSS.

In a joint statement, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and general secretary Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed said with the passage of the historic Land Boundary Agreement Bill, the 41-year-long awaiting has ended.

They said, "With the passage of the bill, a scope has been created for cementing further the friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries based on trust and mutual respect to each other's sovereignty."

Alongside, the CPB leaders called for taking expeditious decision on the issue relating to sharing of waters of the common rivers of both the countries including the river Teesta with India.

Hailing the ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement Bill in Lok Sabha of India, the Workers' Party of Bangladesh also conveyed greetings and felicitation to the Indian government, members of parliament, opposition and people of the country.

In a statement, Workers' Party president Rashed Khan Menon, MP, and general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, MP, said the ratification of the long awaited bill was the fruit of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina's sincere efforts and initiative.

"It's a historic event which has ended a long awaiting and it would also help a step further in improving relations, cooperation and friendship between Bangladesh and India," they said hoping that other pending issues between the two close-door neighbours including water-sharing of the river Teesta would be resolved at the earliest.
