Daud Merchant rearrested

Abdur Rauf Daud Merchant, convicted for the murder of Indian music baron Gulshan Kumar, has been rearrested in Gazipur as soon as he was released on bail, reports bdnews24.com.

Merchant, said to be an aide of Dubai-based Indian mafia Daud Ibrahim, was released around 5:55pm Monday, said Jahangir Alam Senior Jail Superintendent at Dhaka Central Prison-2 at Kashimpur.

Gazipur Detective Branch OC Amir Hossain said none of his personnel was at the jail gate during the release, but a detective in Dhaka confirmed that the 45-year old was arrested as soon as he stepped out of the prison.
