The Detective Branch (DB) of police sent on Monday a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka seeking cancellation of the arms licence of Bakhtiar Alam Rony, son of ruling party MP Pinu Khan, as his firearm was used to kill two people in the city's New Eskaton Road area, reports UNB.
DB sub-inspector Dipak Kumar Das, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, said, "We've urged the Deputy Commissioner to revoke his firearms licence."
He mentioned that as Rony is unfit for carrying any arms and using that, his arms licence should be cancelled.
On April 13, Rony, said to be a drug addict, allegedly opened fire on people indiscriminately near Janakantha Bhaban in New Eskaton area from his car, leaving two people --rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim and Janakantha's auto-rickshaw driver Yakub --injured with bullets.
Hakim succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 15 while Yeakub died at the hospital on April 23.
