The elections to the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) will be held after resolving demarcation of areas, said Election Commissioner Md Shahnewaz, reports BSS.
The election commission (EC) has asked the local government ministry to resolve demarcation of the DCC areas, he told reporters Monday.
"We hope that problems in connection to demarcation of DCC areas will be solved soon and then the polls will be held," Mr Shahnewaz added.
UNB from Nogaon adds: Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Zabed Ali said on the day the EC is determined to hold the upcoming upazila polls in a free, fair, neutral and acceptable manner.
He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with officials of the local administration at the conference room of the deputy commissioner's office.
The election commissioner directed the field-level election officials to neutrally perform their duties and remain alert so that no candidate violates the electoral code of conduct to ensure a free, fair and acceptable election.
Police superintendent M Kaiyumuzzaman Khan, regional election officer Subhash Chandra Sarker, commanding officers of Border Guard Bangladesh battalions 43 and 46, and returning officer and additional DC M Jahangir Alam were, among others, present at the meeting.
Later, Zabed Ali inaugurated the newly constructed server station Bhaban of Sadar upazila election office.
