BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain held talks Wednesday with senior leaders of the two feuding factions who battled over supremacy in Chittagong last Monday.
The meeting was held for four hours from 1pm.
"The secretary general has summoned the Chittagong metropolitan BNP stalwarts," Office Secretary Rizvi Ahmed told bdnews24.com before the meeting.
Chittagong Metropolitan BNP unit Convener Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Central Committee Vice President M Morshed Khan, party Joint Secretary General Abdullah Al Noman, Central Committee International Affairs Secretary Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Metropolitan Convening Committee Joint Convener Wahidul Alam, Shamsul Alam and Shahadat Hossain have been summoned to Dhaka.
Wahidul Alam and Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin arrived at the Naya Paltan office at 12 noon and said to the news agency that the secretary general had summoned them. Seven of them got invited on the occasion, they added.
A series of clashes fuelled by internal squabbling foiled the Chittagong council, attempted after a hiatus of 20 years Monday.
