Delwar laid to rest

MANIKGANJ, Mar 19 (UNB): BNP Secretary General Advocate Khandaker Delwar Hossain was laid to rest with state honour at his family graveyard at Khirai Pachuria village in Ghior Upazila this afternoon. He was buried after the seventh and the last namaj-e-janaza held after zohr prayers at Ghior Government College premises at 3:30pm. The pick-up van which carried his body from Dhaka reached Manikganj at 11:15am. The coffin was first taken to Government Devendra College at 11:20am. Several thousands people thronged the Devendra Collage ground to have a last glimpse of their beloved leader and pay their last respect. His sixth Janaza was held at the Devendra College premises at 11:45am. Then, his body was taken to his election constituency Ghior where the last Janaza was held at the Ghior College ground. BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas, joint secretary general of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka and scores of BNP central and local unit leaders attended the Janaza at his constituency. Earlier, five janazas were held in the capital on Friday. Hundreds of people, including leaders and activists of BNP and other political parties, paid tributes to him.
